From personal experience, I can attest that doing the first is much more satisfying, and also much less painful and disappointing, than doing the second.
When we walk into our own story and completely own it, we discover:
- the deep beauty of who we are
- the profound mystery in our story
- the utter nobility of our imperfection, and
- the astounding peace that comes from surrendering our unrealistic expectations of ourselves and others
No need to fear rejection. Truly honorable people will embrace us with all our faults, simply because they have already walked into their own story, embraced their own humanity, and forgiven themselves for being human.
