We All Have Attention Disorders

When we know exactly how much time is left we pay better attention.”

Regarding how I deal with life in general, this line from Caroline Casper’s short story, Eminence, says it all.

Beginning in grade school, I have always checked to see how many pages I have to read until the end of a chapter or until the end of a book. If the chapters were short, it helped me stay engaged. So, many years ago I began reading each page as if it were the last in order to stay engaged.

It works that way with life too.

So what happens if we pretend every moment is the end?

Maybe we wouldn’t have to say, “If only I had known…”
