- By helping us “remember” the music when we have forgotten what life is about (read: Proof of Heaven)
- By giving us hope (When Jon Stewart was a 20-something in NJ, driving an unreliable old car, working as a bartender in a dive, he said Bruce Springsteen’s music made him feel not like a loser, but “like a loser in an epic poem about losers.”)
A few years ago, after a devastating personal loss, I was “saved” by hearing Johnny Nash’s I Can See Clearly Now. I turned up the volume on the car radio and sang the lyrics at the top of my lungs.
And then there was hope.
