Irish engineer, CY O’Connor designed the world’s longest water delivery system during the Australian gold rush in the late 1800’s. The system, still in use, brings water over 330 miles from Perth to Kalgoorlie. When the water project encountered delays in opening, O’Connor was subjected to prolonged criticism by the press. Two weeks before the opening of the line, O’Connor shot himself.
I went to see the water reservoir in Kalgoorlie for a reminder (that could come in handy) when things seemed hopeless.
History is packed full of these reminders. Even our own history.
When it feels like things will never get better…step aside. Wait for hope.
Don’t give up too soon.
