Anticipating Discouragement

The new school year, the new job, the new house or car, the new relationship, or the new day are in danger of succumbing to discouragement or boredom. Why are we always surprised?

Take school for instance; we start out strong, doing our homework everyday, never missing class, then after a while, we hit the wall and our hope collapses into a pile of unrecognizable pieces.

The only cure seems to be anticipating the wall. There is no need to pretend that it won’t show up sooner or later. Things happen.

  1. See myself as an overcomer not a loser
  2. Remember my heroes
  3. Wait instead of fret
  4. Give thanks for the opportunity to grow stronger
  5. Force myself to take one new step
