Nothing to Be Ashamed of

“Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.”

– Regina Brett (90 year old Cleveland, Ohio Newspaper Columnist)

Yesterday, an older gentlemen walked into the optometrist office where my niece works. While waiting, he told her the story of a man who was ashamed of his withered hands, yet played beautiful piano music with those same hands. He asked her what she thought of that story. Then, he left as quietly as he came.

Little did he know that she had been struggling with her own self-worth and shame over all her screw-ups.

Or did he?

I told the story to my husband. He put his hands up like this…

I asked, “What’s that?”

He said, “Losers can turn into winners.”
