Diplomat vs. Dictator

In business, a boss must often be a dictator in order to get things done. However, even in the workplace, it is a heck of a lot nicer to work for a driven diplomat vs. a driven dictator.

In politics, dictators don’t mesh well in a system of checks and balances of power. Passionately firing, eliminating, purging people, and banishing opponents goes away with democratic accountability for the use of power. These methods may be much faster and less cumbersome than the tedious process of diplomacy, yet they help to guard the rights of those without power. (And one never knows when one could end up powerless.)

Just a consideration when thinking about which boss you want.
