Tina Fey ends her book Bossy Pants with the story of two little children that her mother had babysat when Tina was a child. Tina explains the utter hilarity of the little three year old so distressed that he ran around in circles and said to his screaming baby sister, “Oh, what’s to become of us?” The point of her story was to make the comparison to her own behavior after she had spent months being horribly dramatic and distressed with the “should I have another baby” question.
Her well painted image has made it easier to laugh at myself when I am derailed by my own temporary, blown-out-of-proportion dramas. Thanks, Tina, for reminding us that taking ourselves so seriously is something worthy of mockery!
